Emporia Police have been investigating after a pickup caught fire and crashed early Saturday.
The incident was reported near Ninth and Sherman shortly after 2:20 am. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says the incident was first called in as a wreck, but fire was already evident. The truck was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived a few minutes later.
The truck hit a light pole and broke it. The driver declined a hospital trip afterward.
It is unclear whether the truck was already on fire when it crashed or whether the wreck caused the fire.
