The recipient of Flint Hills Technical College’s third annual Prairie Fire Award isn’t a business, as it has been the last two years. It’s the Reeble Foundation.
The honor reflects a college partner’s ongoing support of and commitment to the college. The Jane & Bernard Reeble Foundation was created in 1996 as a way for the couple to fund charitable endeavors with a special focus on education and children. Since it began is has donated almost $1 million strictly to Flint Hills Technical College.
After Barney Reeble’s death in 2005, Jane Reeble has directed the foundation, including establishing a fund with the Emporia Community Foundation in 2012 so the reeble Foundation’s impact will continue forever. Jane Reeble was a 1948 graduate of Emporia High and a graduate of the University of Kansas. Her career has included 15 years as a secondary school teacher.
Simmons Pet Food and Vektek are prior winners of the Prairie Fire Award.
