Evergy customers wanting to learn more about the utility’s plan to build new facilities — or who have questions about the plan — are encouraged to go online for a special meeting Wednesday evening.
The Zoom hearing begins at 6 pm. The Kansas Corporation Commission, which has scheduled the meeting, encourages residents wanting to participate to register at its website, kcc.ks.gov, and click on the “Your Opinion Matters” tab by noon Tuesday. No registration is needed to simply watch the live video stream on the KCC’s YouTube channel.
This is officially a “predetermination” process as Evergy seeks to build new gas-fired power generation plants in Reno and Sumner counties, as well as a new solar facility in Douglas County.
The KCC plans to issue its ruling by July 7.
