Kansas did well with its tax collections last month.
Governor Laura Kelly says the state collected over $548 million, up over 5 percent from a year ago and almost 29 percent ahead of estimates.
Numbers by category were mixed:
*Individual income tax receipts went above $239 million, beating projections by over 160 percent and February 2024, totals by almost 38 percent.
*At better than $247 million, combined retail sales and compensating use tax receipts beat estimates by less than half a percent and missed the February 2024 total by over 2 percent.
*Corporate income tax collections reached $16.3 million, missing estimates by almost 19 percent and last year’s monthly number by almost 23 percent.
