Stormont Vail Health has a new leader.
The Topeka-based hospital has announced the hire of Kansas native Mark Slyter as its President and Chief Executive Officer, following the retirement announcement last fall of Robert Kenagy.
A native of Augusta, Slyter comes back to Kansas after leading Dignity Health Arizona East Valley Market, serving the Phoenix, Arizona, area. He also has had leadership roles in Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and South Carolina.
Slyter comes on board as Stormont Vail continues regulatory processes locally to build a nearly $45 million medical office building in west Emporia, thus moving its current staff and services out of space leased at the Newman Regional Health Medical Partners building. Construction is tentatively set to begin by spring 2026 if the Emporia City Commission approves the final plat or project layout.
