A day’s worth of information, education and networking culminated with a celebratory concert Wednesday.
Emporia State University finished months of planning for its first-ever She Sings: Women in Music Festival with a special concert at the Emporia Granada Theatre, including many of the featured presenters at the conference earlier in the day as well as Weda Skirts, ESU choirs and choral students from Emporia and Osage City high schools.
Speaking of the conference, activities took place at Emporia State’s Beach Music Hall, all designed to give students more information about women in high-profile positions in music, to highlight the variety of ESU students and to demonstrate music’s role as an avenue for social change.

Plans are already developing for the second She Sings festival. Next year’s event will take place May 2.
