Formal charges are currently pending against a Wichita man and a juvenile after an alleged chase in Morris County earlier this month.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office says the incident allegedly developed in the late-evening hours of March 8 as a deputy tried a traffic stop on US Highway 77 after an alleged traffic infraction. Deputies say the vehicle failed to stop and a chase ensued, later involving Geary County deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers. The incident continued north on US-77 to Interstate 70, where the driver went around spike strips. The driver also tried to leave I-70 through a ditch but hit a tree row and stopped in an open field.
Morris County deputies are not releasing the name of the driver because that person is a juvenile. The driver was arrested on suspicion of flee and elude, interference with law enforcement, speeding, operating a motor vehicle with no proof of insurance and failure to dim headlights.
The adult in the vehicle, 27-year-old Jaquellin Demarquez Holland of Wichita, was arrested on suspicion of drug and paraphernalia possession as well as interference with law enforcement.
