Former Emporia Planning Commissioner Monica Duncan is looking to move to a new board later this year.
Duncan has filed paperwork with the Lyon County Clerkâs Office seeking election to the Emporia City Commission. Duncan is no stranger to city board appointments having previously served as a member Vice-Chair of the Emporia/Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.
Duncan formerly worked for the Flint Hills Special Education Cooperative and is currently a general manager for Emporia based collections agency CBCS Collections LLC.
KVOE News has reached out to Duncan to discuss her goals and objectives if elected.
Duncan is the first individual to file for election to the commission which has three positions open this election cycle. Earlier this month, current commissioner Susan Brinkman formally announced that she will not be seeking a third term in office this year.
Incumbents Jamie Sauder and Tyler Curtis have yet to announce their intentions.
