Last month, it was announced Haag Pharmacy is rebranding to Newman Community Rx. Now the president of Community Healthcare Collective, Inc., the lead entity behind the change, has given more information about the process.
In an email response to KVOE News questions, Tyson Allen says Community Healthcare Collective is wholly independent of any other entity, including Newman Regional Health, which facilitated the Collective’s creation. Having said that, Allen adds Newman Regional Health is also “facilitating the efforts to stand up the organization by providing administrative support and other resources” — including a $2 million secured line of credit funding the Collective’s establishment and early operations. Allen says the Collective will use and repay the line of credit as needed from its own operations and private donations. The hospital also maintains a line on all Collective assets.
Newman Regional Health is working with CHC on a 340b contract pharmacy partnership, letting the pharmacy — and, as a result, residents — get medications at reduced prices.
Meanwhile, the transition phase continues for the pharmacy in both name and operations. Longtime Haag Pharmacy owner Amber Haag will participate in pharmacy operations and management, with Allen planning to “work through routine administrative work necessary to establish and expand” the Collective.
