Residents in need of jobs can attend a special job fair next month.
Southeast KansasWORKS and Emporia Spanish Speakers are working together to organize the Emporia Stronger Job Fair on April 8.
Southeast KansasWORKS Director Katie Givens says traffic at her office has picked up considerably since Emporia Spanish Speakers moved in after the first of the year. Demand for services has also increased since the closure announcements of Tyson Foods and Holiday Resort in December. Events like Emporia Stronger help to connect employers to employees — and employees to services offered by both KansasWORKS and Emporia Spanish Speakers.
Activities will be from 11 am to 2 pm at the Humanitarian Center. Up to 30 participating employers will line the first-floor hallway. Givens says local, regional and out-of-state businesses are looking to attend.
