Finalists have been announced for the Emporia Recreation Commission’s director position.
Current Interim Director and longtime Assistant Director for Operations Amanda Gutierrez is one of the three finalists. Also reaching the finalist stage are Fred Lowery, the Recreation and Operations Superintendent at Hilton Head Island Recreation in South Carolina, and John Mark Woolums, a former facility program manager for Deerfield Park District in Illinois.
One interview is set for April 7, with the remaining candidates interviewing April 15. The Rec Commission has not said which candidates are interviewing on those dates.
The public is encouraged to attend meet-and-greet events both nights. Those will start at 5:30 pm.
The new director follows Tom McEvoy, who retired in December after working in local public recreation for almost 40 years.
