Elevated fire danger returns to the area Friday and Saturday.
Very fire danger is in store for Friday as temperatures climb to near 70 degrees, grasses remain dry, relative humidity levels drop and gusty winds shift from south to northwest. Greenwood County is in a red flag warning from 10 am to 7 pm, meaning an automatic burn ban while the warning is active.
The fire danger well be very high again Saturday with similar conditions in place. Winds will largely stay out of the south or southeast through the day.
Thunderstorms are possible very early Sunday, and areas just south and east of Emporia are under a marginal risk for hail and wind. The marginal risk is along and east of a line from Osage City to near Hartford to Eureka.
