Beacon for Hope Suicide Prevention began an active spring calendar with a special event highlighting veterans Saturday.
Beacon organized a special Darts for Honor tournament at Arnie’s Tavern, generating around $1,000 for Beacon programs and connections seeking to end suicide among veterans. Darts tournaments aren’t typically used as fundraisers, but Beacon Executive Director Melissa Owen says the event and the location made sense.
Audio PlayerBeacon has two other veteran-related events confirmed for later this year, including the first-ever Beacon for Courage dinner gathering April 26 and its Hope With Horsepower car show Sept. 6. Beacon is also discussing a Coffee and Conversation series.
Also coming to the community through early summer: a Network for Hope event April 1, the second annual Light the Way for Hope Suicide Prevention Walk and sixth annual Art Inspired by Hope events April 19 and the Rage Against the Stigma Men’s Wellness event June 21.
