Scattered thunderstorms brought rainfall to parts of the KVOE listening area early Sunday, but not much.
The KVOE studios reported 0.05 inches of rain after storms moved across the area after midnight. No rain was reported at the Emporia Municipal Airport. Allen reported 0.25 inches.
Fire danger was high areawide Saturday and will continue, at least at a very high level, to start the week. Sunday will have breezy conditions, low humidity levels and dry grasses combining for a very high fire danger areawide. Aside from high temperatures in the mid-70s, all other weather conditions will be similar for Monday.
Outdoor burns are discouraged areawide until at least Tuesday, when wind speeds will peak at around 20 mph. Coffey County is in a burn ban until further notice, while Wabaunsee County is in a ban for Sunday.
Thunderstorm chances return Wednesday night and remain at a slight to moderate level through Saturday.
