A second incumbent has filed for re-election on the Reading City Council.
Mary Ann Newton filed her paperwork with the Lyon County Clerk’s Office Monday seeking another term in office. Newton is the second individual and second incumbent to file for re-election to the city council following Heather Jones last week.
The 2025 election cycle involves positions like City Council, City Commission, mayor and school board. The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is noon June 2.
If enough candidates file the primary election will take place August 5. The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4.
