A short agenda on a big topic is ahead for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education this week.
The current agenda, posted on the district’s website at usd253.org, is all about the ongoing search for a new superintendent as part of what’s being listed as a special board meeting. Representatives of the Kansas Association of School Boards will discuss the process before an executive session on personnel and adjournment.
The district is approaching the original time period where it has been expecting to begin finalist interviews, with a new superintendent possibly chosen by April 7. KASB has been working with the district since current superintendent Allison Anderson Harder announced her upcoming retirement last month.
The meeting starts at 6 pm Wednesday at Mary Herbert Education Center.
