Could the Farm Bill finally be updated?
US Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas is expressing hope there could well be a new bill by August. He tells Brownfield Ag News there are two possible starting points for renewed conversations, one coming from the House Ag Committee or a draft from Arkansas Senator John Boozman. Another option is to handle the Farm Bill through reconciliation.

It has also helped ag producers conserve their land; support research and development; provide money for rural economic development ventures; and fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, long known as food stamps but now known as SNAP.
Kansas lawmakers have been increasingly vocal in the need for at least an extended Farm Bill over the past year. Both Moran and fellow Senator Roger Marshall say the bill, when passed, needs to have more supports for ag producers as input costs and interest rates continue climbing.
