There may be a new event space near Olpe if Lyon County commissioners approve a zoning change application Thursday.
Commissioners will at least consider Danielle Cottman’s request to change zoning at 1027 Road 70 to Agriculture Conditional-Use “Event Space.” Cottman has been developing plans to turn a barn into event lodging, but nearby residents have mentioned concerns about traffic, parking, alcohol use and other possible issues.
Earlier this month, the Lyon County Planning and Appeals Board gave the project its approval, provided Cottman meet a lengthy list of conditions for operational items like hours of operations, alcohol restrictions, security presence, maximum attendance, sound levels and parking.
Separately, commissioners could approve the purchase of three pickup trucks for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office from Longbine Auto Plaza at an estimated cost of over $150,000, as well as an SUV through the state contract for Community Corrections at a cost not to exceed $29,000. Commissioners could approve the low/best bid for grader blades for the Highway Department. They could also approve a $5,700 payment to Hayden Tower to repair lighting along the county’s North-Allen radio tower.
The meeting starts at 9 am at the County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
