USD 253 Board of Education members are about to begin the “most intense” part of their search for a new superintendent.
Next week, the board will conduct in-person interviews with the superintendent finalists who were selected following a better than two-hour meeting, nearly all of which was spent in executive session, Wednesday. While the district has selected the finalists, the names of said individuals, the number of finalists and a schedule for said interviews have not been released.
The names and a short bio of each candidate will be announced on the day of their respective interview, which will be jampacked with activities including tours of the district, a meet and greet with community members and district stakeholders as well as district building leadership. The board arrived at this point of the search with the help of the Kansas Association of School Boards and Leadership Field Specialist Marcia Weeseman, who was very complimentary of the community and the board for its input in recent months.
She says that feedback has been invaluable and played a crucial role in identifying the best individuals for the position.

The chosen candidate will be replacing Dr. Allison Anderson Harder, who was named Superintendent back in 2021 and announced her retirement earlier this year, effective July 1, after a nearly 30-year career with USD 253.
KVOE News will have updates and information on each candidate as they are announced on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
