The Emporia High softball team was swept by Ottawa in a doubleheader on Thursday. Ottawa won the first game, 10-2, before completing the sweep with a 5-1 victory. Emporia High scored both of its runs in the fourth and fifth innings after trailing 4-0 after three innings and 6-1 through four innings. Mackalyeigh Arrington recorded the only extra base hit, going 1-for-3 in the game. Alivia Barrett went six innings, allowing 10 runs on 14 hits, and recorded six strikeouts. In game two, Ottawa led 4-0 after three innings with the Lady Spartans getting their lone run in the fifth. Marley Sewell went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Emporia High (0-2) heads to Wichita South on Friday.
