The recent hail event that impacted parts of the US Highway 56 corridor, specifically the city of Allen, is the worst that City Mayor Jessie Niedfelt can ever recall.
Niedfelt offered those comments to KVOE News Friday morning following the event that dropped quarter- to egg-sized hail on the community, damaging just about everything outside. Based on conversations with roof experts in the last 24 hours, Niedfelt says the damage was catastrophic for home and vehicle owners alike.
It’s unclear at this time if that level of damage includes city hall, as Niedfelt says they are still looking into that damage. However, the main focus of city leadership at this time is assisting residents in any way they can.
At this time, Niedfelt says city leadership is looking into potential resources and programs that can assist residents without quality or any insurance with the cost of roof repairs.
