It was a sweep for the Blue teams in the 2025 edition of the Flint Hills Optimist Club’s All-Star Basketball Classic on Saturday night at White Auditorium.
In the girls game, the Blue team got a game winning bucket at the buzzer by Lebo’s Saige Hadley for a 56-55 victory over the Red team. Eureka’s Laynie Winfery was named the Bryan Douglas Most Valuable Player with a game-high 19 points. Winfrey also won the 3-point shooting contest before the game. Winfrey said she didn’t think know things would carry over into the game.

Audio PlayerHadley finished with 18 for the Blue team. Lebo’s Siara Crouch led the Red team with 15 points.
In the boys game, it was a back-and-forth game with Blue winning 95-93 and leading by as many as 10 and Red leading by as many as eight. Council Grove’s Brycen Palmquist was named the boys MVP with a game-high 27 points. Palmquist said it was a team effort to get the win.

Audio PlayerThe Red team was led by Lebo’s Zach Oswald who had a team-high 16 points. Savannah Davis of Lyndon and Madden Seidl of Emporia High were the Rich Jaggard Memorial Scholarship recipients drawn at the banquet on Wednesday.
