Emporia’s Central Care Cancer Center had higher-than-normal traffic Saturday, thanks to a special health event.
The center hosted a free screening activity, thanks to a longstanding collaboration between the Emporia Masonic Lodge 12, Kansas Masons and University of Kansas Cancer Center. Local Master James Miller says Lodge 12 jumped at the chance to be involved.
Audio PlayerMiller says there will be a similar event at the Americus lodge soon.
At least 40 people attended.
Residents could get checked for colorectal, skin and prostate cancers. They could also get information about body mass index readings and blood pressure.
