Allen Mayor Jessie Niedfeldt says there is a lot of work underway in and around the city limits to repair damage from Thursday’s hailstorm. There is still a lot of work ahead.
From the city’s perspective, Niedfeldt says there are inspections ahead — perhaps as soon as Monday — for City Hall’s high roof and the water tower.
From the resident perspective, cleanup has started after quarter-to-egg-sized hail hit the area Thursday morning, but a lot of information is pending as insurance agents work up repair estimates. Besides the widespread roof, window and vehicle damage in and around Allen, including almost all the town’s residential roofs and window damage to both the North Lyon County Youth Association’s community building and Northern Heights High School, Niedfeldt says a number of trees were “shredded.”
Niedfeldt urges residents to get pictures of everything that was damaged Thursday, especially if insurance agents have not visited their properties.
