Lyon County residents who appealed their property valuations will start seeing Appraisal Department representatives in the next two weeks.
County Appraiser Ryan Janzen says residents can appeal on valuation numbers or property classifications. As you can imagine, most appeals fall into one category.
Audio PlayerJanzen also says this was a “pretty typical year” for his department when it comes to overall appeal requests.
Valuations for residential properties increased between 2.6 percent and almost 9 percent. Commercial properties were up as much as 9.7 percent, while apartments were up between 4-14 percent. Ag property values saw movement up and down, depending on the category.
Personal property notices go out around May 1. Property reviews begin later this spring.
