If you have seen social media posts about a missing police officer, it’s a scam.
The purported missing officer is 28-year-old Katie Cunningham. She is listed as anywhere from 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-9 and 163 pounds. Social media posts have also said she went missing recently with her daughter found inside her car. The social media post also indicates a “silver alert” has been issued on Cunningham’s behalf, although Silver Alerts — at least in Kansas — are reserved for missing elderly residents.
The purpose of the scam is unclear. People are asked not to share the post.
