Flint Hills Technical College officially kicks off its Advancing Tomorrow capital campaign with a special gathering Thursday.
The kickoff begins at at the college at 10 am Thursday and features several speakers, including FHTC President Caron Daugherty, FHTC Board of Trustees member Jordan Jenkins, Simmons Pet Food representative Joey LeMay and 17th District Senator Mike Argabright. A significant lead gift announcement is planned.
The campaign, the college’s largest-ever fundraising effort at $17 million, revolves around building a 27,000-square-foot Advanced Industry Education Center to bring cutting-edge opportunities across several college programs. Vice President for Advancement Mike Crouch says this will help to offset the state’s shortage of skilled workers.
The plan is to start construction by 2027 and begin classes in the facility as soon as fall 2028.
