Appeal procedures are ongoing in an Emporia aggravated kidnapping case.
Willam D Anderson’s current defense attorney, Brian Williams, recently filed paperwork requesting new representation as the case moves forward. Wichita attorney Kristen Patty has been appointed as Anderson’s defense.
Anderson was initially sentenced in Lyon County District Court to over 34 years in prison after a 2018 incident where a man was locked in a dog cage, threatened with knives, tattooed and had money taken from his bank account during a 24-to-30-hour incident. The sentence, involving convictions on kidnapping, aggravated battery, robbery and burglary counts, was reduced to just over 32 years shortly after the initial sentence was filed.
