Friday’s ribbon-cutting and open house for Emporia Spanish Speakers’ new office inside the Humanitarian Center is a big step for the organization — but it’s not the only step coming as the agency continues serving the immediate Emporia area.
Among other things, Chief Executive Officer Lelan Dains says this arrangement improves the quality of services offered locally.
Audio PlayerDains says this will let Emporia Spanish Speakers help more people and employ more people as well.
The new space, which occupies previously open space inside Southeast KansasWORKS as part of a developing partnership through the entities — including the upcoming Emporia Stronger Job Fair at the Humanitarian Center on Tuesday — also lets Emporia Spanish Speakers continue work to expand its reach across Kansas and several neighboring states through its incorporated name, Kansas Spanish Speakers.
Dains has said Emporia Spanish Speakers is also looking for other brick-and-mortar spaces locally to serve different purposes, and that process continues. The agency is looking for a community space as well as a residential space that could be used for short-term lodging.
