Judging by the turnout Sunday, the third season of Good Way Gardens concerts is — pun fully intended — getting rooted in the community calendar.
Over 100 people attended the season debut at the Historic Richard Howe Farmstead for crafts through the Emporia Arts Council, information and gardening items through Good Way Gardens and music from the South Dakota band Humbletown.
Audio PlayerGood Way Gardens founder Elexa Dawson says the concert series is is a great way to foster cultural connections.
Audio PlayerThe concert series reflects a now-ongoing partnership between Good Way Gardens and the Lyon County History Center, and History Center Curator Lisa Soller enjoys the historical connections evident at the site.
Audio PlayerUp next for the Howe Farmstead is the second annual Howe Hoist — where people will try to lift stones of varying weights on top of a roughly four-foot pedestal. Howe Hoist is set for May 3.
The next Good Way Gardens concert event is May 4, with Sam and the Firewatchers as the featured performer.
Later this summer, vintage baseball will return to the Howe Farmstead in June.
