The Emporia State softball team was outhit 27-7 in the doubleheader and fell twice to Central Missouri Monday afternoon in a weather-delayed series at the Trusler Sports Complex in Emporia. ESU fell 7-2 in nine innings in game one. ESU plated a run in the first to take the lead and then scored in the seventh on an obstruction call when Brooke Flewelling was injured trying to score. She left the game and didn’t return. The Jennies scored five in the top of the ninth to take the win. ESU didn’t get a hit until the fifth inning in game two falling 6-2 to UCM. Central scored three runs in the fourth to take the lead and never trailed. Head coach April Rosales said the team will use practice this week to work on their mental approach to the game on offense.

ESU (25-17, 6-10 MIAA) suffered its only winless week of the MIAA season with the 0-4 weekend. The Lady Hornets are back on the road for a four-game road trip beginning Friday when they visit Northwest Missouri.
