Traffic and utility adjustments will begin Wednesday for a portion of northwest Emporia as the city’s contractor begins the latest step in the 24th and Prairie waterline replacement project.
Work will take place from Prairie Street to 15th Avenue and tie the new 24″ line into the existing 16″ line. The work will require the shutdown of the water main between Prairie and Lincoln, which is estimated to impact 80 to 90 residents and businesses in the area.
The work may last most of, if not the entire, day.
The work will also lead to some traffic adjustments in the work zone and drivers are asked to follow all traffic control signage and directions or find alternate routes of travel if possible. If you would like updates on the project, you can download the MyAlerts app or contact the City of Emporia Engineering Department by calling 620-343-4260 or emailing eng@emporiaks.gov between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
