One person was taken to Newman Regional Health after a vehicle struck a cyclist in Emporia late Tuesday morning.
Emporia Police and EMS were called to the intersection of State Street and West 12th Avenue at 10:25 am. According to Emporia Police Officers at the scene, 35-year-old Andrew Butler was preparing to cross 12th from State Street.
As he entered the intersection, he was struck on the side by a 2010 Toyota Corolla, driven by 74-year-old Barbara Oller. Butler landed on the vehicle, cracking the windshield and damaging the hood.
Butler was then examined at the scene and taken to Newman Regional Health by ambulance with at least one laceration to their head, according to paramedics. Butler’s injuries are reportedly non-life-threatening.
