While USD 253 Emporia and several nearby school districts have chosen their next leaders, USD 243 Lebo-Waverly is apparently closing in on its next superintendent.
USD 339 Jefferson County North High principal Joseph Worthington is interviewing Wednesday. Worthington has 29 years of experience in education, including the last 10 in his current role.
Dustin Wilson, currently the head principal at USD 495 Larned, interviewed with the board Tuesday. Wilson is concluding his sixth year in that position. Lebo-Waverly says Wilson has 24 years of experience in education, including 11 years in administration.
No other candidates have been announced. Finalists were chosen after input from a community survey and focus groups.
USD 243 is in the market for a new superintendent after current leader Duane Ford announced his resignation in February.
Besides Emporia, who announced David McGehee as superintendent Monday, three area districts have hired new superintendents coming on board on or before July 1:
*USD 284 Chase County has hired Aron Dody to replace Glenna Grinstead, who is retiring
*USD 386 Madison-Virgil has Dallas Woolf after the retirement announcement of Tammy Baird
*USD 421 Lyndon hired Kimberly Woolf, Dallas Woolf’s wife, to replace Brad Marcotte after the district and Marcotte reached a separation agreement early this year
