Three area schools have been honored by the Kansas State High School Activities Association for promoting good sportsmanship.
Each league in the state is allowed to identify a KSHSAA Basketball Sportsmanship League/Conference Champion. 36 high schools were eligible during the 2024-25 basketball season with one from each league/conference selected by their peers. Emporia High is the Centennial League Sportsmanship Champion. Council Grove is the Flint Hills League Sportsmanship Champion. Madison is the Lyon County League Sportsmanship Champion.
After this past basketball season, school leaders considered the sportsmanship demonstrated by girls and boys basketball teams, spirit squads, pep bands and crowds based upon the school’s teams performance throughout the basketball season.
