The Emporia High girls swim team finished third in its home invitational on Thursday.
Emporia High had one event champion and three second place finishes to lead the way. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Camryn Spafford, Taryn Woydziak, Bailey Wiltz and Brooke Monroe won the event in 4:48.89. Connelly Prouse had two second place finishes to lead the way. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:44.03) and was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle (7:23.75). Prouse said she’s continuing to see strides by everyone in the pool.

Spafford finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:28.27) and finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (29.50). Monroe finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:22.84). The 200-yard medley relay team of Sage Wohletz, Prouse, Evelie Prouse and Ava Podrebarac finished sixth (2:48.96). Wohletz was fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (3:31.39). Woydziak finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.27).
Head coach Phil Metz said he likes the competitiveness out of his team.
