Two other Emporia High athletics teams were on the road on Thursday.
The Emporia High boys golf team opened the season finishing 13th in the Washburn Rural/Great Plains Classic held at Wamego Country Club. The Spartans shot a 336 as a team, finishing 33 shots back of team champion, Manhattan. Hudson Sauder finished in a tie for 17th with a 79. Nolan Jacob finished in a tie for 50th with an 85. Will Walker and Marley Harter each finished in a tie for 55th with an 86. Jared Johnson was 81st with a 95 and Javen Arndt was 88th with a 106. Emporia High travels to Manhattan for a tournament on Monday.
The Emporia High girls soccer team extended its winning streak to two with a 2-1 victory at Cair Paravel. Katie Smart scored both of the Lady Spartans’ goals. Emporia High (4-2) travels to Manhattan on Tuesday.
