Plans are coalescing for the United Way of the Flint Hills’ annual Campaign Celebration next month.
Executive Director Daphne Mertens says the event May 22 at the Bowyer Building will feature lunch, awards and perspectives from current drive chair Tagan Trahoon and past drive co-chair Scott Hayes. On KVOE’s Morning Show this week, Mertens says the United Way continues its work for the greater good as the event approaches.

While a lot of attention is on that event, the United Way is also gearing up for its first-ever video game tournament at the Emporia State Esport Arena inside Cremer Hall. The event is from 9 am to 9 pm April 26 and will include bracket-style competition for games like Fortnite, Mario Kart, NCAA Football and Super Smash Bros. It is an all-ages tournament, but participants under age 16 need a parent or guardian.
More information about both events, including registration, is online at unitedwayoftheflinthills.org.
