The Emporia State baseball team shrugged off a five-game losing streak with a 14-8 victory over Washburn at the Trusler Sports Complex Friday night. ESU had six players with multi-hit games on the way to 19 hits. ESU scored in the first to take the lead on a Cooper Schwindt single before Washburn plated three in the top of the second. ESU scored the next five including a four-run third inning powered by five-straight two-out hits. The Ichabods answered with three in the fourth, but E-State broke the tie with six-straight runs including a four-run sixth. ESU gave up two unearned runs on two errors in the eighth but Jovanni Toledo put the game away with a two-run homer to left field. Head coach Brad Hill said the team had a great approach at the plate.
