Once again, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office’s annual statewide spring training seminar was at capacity, according to Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope in an interview with KVOE News Friday.
Audio PlayerCope says the attendance was on par with years past, noting they have had to turn individuals away previously due to the seminar’s popularity across the state. When asked what has contributed to the seminar’s high standing across the state, Cope believes it is a combination of the community, staff and quality education provided through various presenters.
Cope says while attendance for the event is very steady each year, the information and training presented is constantly changing as the law enforcement profession is an ever-evolving one. That said, Cope tells KVOE News that the information presented is highly beneficial to all in attendance regardless of the amount of time they have spent in the profession.
Audio PlayerIn addition to lending high-quality education and training to law enforcement professionals across the state, Cope says the seminar also brings a “big boost” to the local community.
Audio PlayerTopics discussed during this year’s training seminar included interacting with mental health patients, child abuse case procedures, case study follow-ups, first amendment matters, interviews and interrogations and more.
