The rumble of motorcycles from across Kansas could be heard loud and clear at the Lyon County Fairgrounds as ABATE District 12 had its 30th annual Spring Fling Bike Show on Saturday.
The bike show has included numerous motorcycles in several different categories, as well as a fundraising auction, indoor and outdoor vendors and an outdoor swap meet. A social gathering follows at Casa Ramos.
Organizer and event spokesperson Sarah Gonzalez says she is among 15 family members who ride.
Audio PlayerABATE’s core mission is all about safety, whether for motorcycle riders themselves or in conjunction with drivers of other vehicles, and Gonzalez says that message stands out to her because of the number of riders in her family and also because her husband recovered after a collision with another vehicle.
Next up for ABATE District 12 is a special poker run benefit May 31 for Troy Angell, who was riding when he was hit by another vehicle several months ago. That event will start at Soden’s Grove and end at Harry & Lloyd’s in Americus.
