The Emporia State softball team dropped a pair of games at Missouri Western on Saturday.
ESU couldn’t hold on to an early lead in game one and fell 4-2. ESU plated two runs but didn’t score again. Brooke Flewelling returned from injury and doubled home two runs for ESU. Western got one back on a double steal in the second before tying it in the third. Western went in front on a throwing error in the fifth and added insurance in the sixth. Gracie Rabe (9-10) went 6.0 innings for ESU and gave up four hits and three runs in the loss.
Emporia State dropped another tight one in game two falling 2-1. Western led through one but Leslie Ramos tied the game in the second when she singled in a run, but Western got a solo home run in the fourth to take the lead and E-State couldn’t mount a rally in their final three at bats. Western spoiled another good pitching outing as Jordan Harrison (12-7) went 6.0 innings for the Lady Hornets and gave up three hits and two runs.
ESU (26-20, 7-13 MIAA) is on the road for a midweek non conference doubleheader at Drury Wednesday. First pitch is set for noon.
