Saturday evening was a banner one for Emporia Main Street, which organized another successful rendition of The Taste.
What makes for this event being successful now for close to a generation? Main Street Director Casey Woods says a key part is evolution as local needs have changed — starting with its first iteration as a martini bar before taking on its current format.

Audio PlayerAlso among the vendors on hand was Radius Brewing, which is well into a project to build an offsite production facility. While the production facility is making visible progress, co-owner Jeremy Johns says there are numerous benefits for being a vendor, especially in Radius’ case of being local and now established for over a decade. He also says the brewing side of the hospitality business is a lot more collegial than one might think.

Separately, Main Street is awaiting word on its status through the USA Today’s 10Best Main Street contest. Rankings will be announced Wednesday. Emporia Main Street had been in the top two or three nationwide before polls closed April 7.
