A major gift from the Preston Family Fund is set to benefit Southwick House.
The $100,000 gift will be used to establish a welcoming porch at the new 9,000 square foot transitional housing facility at 115 E. Logan Ave and honor Aloha Preston.
Executive Director Susan Brinkman says this gift passes a significant mark in the fundraising campaign.

The Preston family’s priorities when living in Emporia were Emporia State University, women’s issues, and youth.
When working with the Preston Family Fund, Brinkman says it was wonderful sharing stories from the community and her history with the Preston. Brinkman says that being able to put Aloha Preston’s legacy at the front door of Southwick House is special.
Southwick House is expanding on the original mission of Plumb Place to serve women and families in crisis situations. Plumb Place ended operations in 2020 after a century of serving women
