After a successful Civic Leadership Institute in 2024, the 2025 edition is approaching.
The eight-week institute will be held each Tuesday beginning on May 6 and run through July 8 with community members being able to connect with City of Emporia staff, getting behind the scenes tours and learning about the specifics of the city.
With registration set to close next week, the class is above capacity, but applications are still being accepted. Assistant City Manager Tayler Wash says several components are why the class is filling up in a hurry.

When preparing for the class, Wash says she asks one question to her presenters is ‘What do you wish people knew about your department and the job you do?’ Wash says not much will change with this year’s institute from last year.
