Jamie Dreiling says a combination of gut feeling and a lot of basketball viewing put him in good stead to win KVOE’s annual Beat the Bracket contest.
Dreiling was set to take home a recliner from Triad Leasing, but he had recently purchased a chair — so arrangements were made for Dreiling to take home a kitchen table set instead. For winning, Dreiling also won a year of light-duty oil changes from Blackcreek Diesel & Automotive.
Dreiling had 140 points, heading up a tight field that saw Mary Benjamin finish second with 137 points. She won $300 in cash from Emporia State Federal Credit Union.
Tom Walters was third with 136 points, winning $100 from Emporia State Federal Credit Union.
Participants had a short time period to fill out brackets, available at several business partners like Blackcreek Diesel & Automotive, Bourbon Cowboy, Emporia State Federal Credit Union, Gambino’s Pizza, The Liquor Store and Triad Leasing. Contestants could also add to their point totals by using special buzz words listed during the KVOE Morning Show throughout the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
