Easter egg hunts are in abundance this weekend.
Emporia Main Street kicks off the weekend with a nontraditional hunt starting at 10 am Friday. Director Casey Woods says 3-D printed eggs from the Fabrication Lab will be hidden along Commercial Street from Third to 12th. And yes, you can keep one if you find it.
The Flint Hills Optimist Club will be holding its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 am at Jones Park. Optimist Club President Stan Fowler says a lot of candy will be scattered around the park.
The Easter Bunny will also be there for photos. Fowler encourages patrons to show up early with parking being a challenge. Prairie Street parking will be available, but Fowler says it may be easier to come into the park through the Lincoln Street entrance due to the construction through the 24th and Prairie waterline replacement project.
Project Playscape will be holding an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 am at Americus City Park. Spokesperson Britney Hinrichs says their hunt can’t be possible without the help of several community entities.
Like the Optimist Club’s hunt, Hinrichs says they will have four sections for ages 0 to 12. Hinrichs does encourage patrons to show up at 10:45 am and meet at the basketball courts and then they’ll break everyone into the four sections for the hunt.
