A free and educational hunting experience is coming Saturday.
The Kansas State Rifle Association will host an upland hunt on Saturday. KSRA Executive Director Megan Hillbish says the hunt is free and open to all ages. Participants must bring a valid Kansas hunting license.
Hillbish says the list of activities will be lengthy.
The event has enough room for 20 participants, with some spots still available. Participants do not need to provide their own firearm, as Hillbish says they will have 20-gauge shotguns available.
KSRA will also have eye and ear protection available, however, participants are encouraged to bring their own. The hunt will occur both north and west of Emporia, with clay shooting occurring on land owned by Roger Wells before the actual hunting takes place on land owned by the Hillbish family.
Activities will begin at 9 am and those interested in participating can contact Hillbish or visit the Kansas State Rifle Association Facebook page.
