Moderate drought continues to push eastward across Kansas.
Last week, moderate drought went generally along and west of a line from Manhattan to Neosho Rapids to Madison. This week’s report from the US Drought Monitor has moderate drought along and west of a line from Osage City to Beto Junction to Virgil.
The report comes as area residents got less than a quarter-inch of rainfall early Thursday. Rain has been hard to come by all year. The KVOE studios have picked up about 2.5 inches of rainfall since New Year’s Day, with 1.5 inches so far this month. The rainfall combines with about a foot of snowfall from the winter.
