The Emporia State women’s tennis team leveled their season and MIAA record after a 5-2 win at Missouri Western Thursday. After Andrea Santiago and Paige Stranghoner won 6-1 at #3 doubles, the Lady Hornets coughed up the doubles point by losing the next two matches, but ESU dominated singles winning five of the six matches. Santiago won at #6 singles without losing a game while Stranghoner dropped just one game at #5 singles. With the dual decided, Yulia Klimova won a dramatic third set super tiebreak 6-2, 6-7 with a 10-8 victory in the tiebreaker. ESU moves to 8-8 overall and 3-3 inside “The Association” and returns to MIAA competition tomorrow at Northwest Missouri. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
Edit: A lineup change by the Lady Hornets was not updated by the official scorer of the match. The results have been corrected.
